TAOS FREERIDE '07

It is said that in Taos, gravity is a state of mind, hospitality is a way of life, and pure skiing is everything!

"Taos is one of the best events in North America; the vibe here is truly something special, and the Kachina Peak venue is world class." - veteran competitor Elijah Lee

"In only its second year, this event is poised to become a staple on the big mountain circuit. The five day freeride competition is an International Free Skiing Association (IFSA) event, and top competitors will jockey for prizes including equipment, product, and a cash purse of $10,000. - Tom Winter in Freeskiing Magazine (Dec. 2005)

"There were lines being skied that have never been skied before on this mountain. That's what big-mountain comps are all about. Taos has that reputation as being a steep mountain and is always rated one of the top 10 in the country. It was a natural to host the event here, since most of the other mountains hosting are mentioned in the same breath with Taos." - Alejandro Blake, TSV's Special Events Coordinator

The venues for this event, Kachina Peak's famous steep cliff bands and the notorious West Basin Ridge, showcase Taos' toughest terrain.

"What makes our competition unique is our mountain is ski only and (this event) offers skiers who consider themselves to be true to pure skiing an exceptional opportunity. The sense of camaraderie here is different than anywhere else and was evident in our 2005 event. Even the trophy is unique: at what other event do you actually get a martini in a pouron for a trophy to drink from when you win the competition?" - Alejandro Blake

With 4 cameras on the course, you'll get a prime view of all the action. Competitor interviews give you insights into the minds of skiers who routinely risk life and limb on the most dangerous terrain in skiing for glory and prizes. We'll show you what the judges are looking for and what it takes to win. Also included are the awards presentation, 2005 highlights, and a free, downloadable iPod version of the event.
